Learn Something New Everyday
Yo, I totally didn't even realize this but did you know that any month that starts on a Sunday will have a Friday the 13th?
I mean, it makes complete sense, I just never thought of it that way before. And I bet you haven't either.

Because it's Friday
I thought I would share this cute video someone passed along to me. I wish spontaneous things like this would happen when I am around. This is a T-Mobile commercial shot at Liverpool Street Subway. Only the dancers knew what was about to happen and the rest had no clue what they were about to encounter.

Barley Fat Cat
I know you already know this cat. But still, this is Barley, the impulse adoption/purchase I got with my tax return last year. Recently, this cat must be either feeling left out or going through a mid life crisis or is just feeling too frisky because the Spring is right around the corner because even though I love him so much, he has been getting on my last nerve. So much so that I was so excited when I used up the rest of the wrapping paper for Daren's birthday present (the BIGGEST George Foreman in the world) and then bopped Barley over the head with it and was so excited because it scared him!
And now it keeps scaring him!! The only thing I really wake up to other than my alarm clock is the stupid cats. Barley jumping up on my dresser and knocking off anything he can get his paw on. And Sushi flicking her claws on the side of the litter box. Except for now, I sleep with the empty roll from the wrapping paper (aka Barley's Beating Stick) on the side of the bed or in the bed above my head or behind the pillow and all I have to do is make a noise with it and he immediately stops whatever he is doing. Love it, love it, love it.
Umm....and the best thing in the world is that he is actually responding to Fat Cat. :-)
Oh, and I stopped feeding them twice a day because I am being serious, Barley is fat, so unless their bowl is literally empty, then fineeeeeee, I will fill it up a LITTLE. This was taken from I Can Has Cheezburger and it truly depicts my silly, not so starved cats.

New Orleans
This St. Patty's day, while fun, I couldn't help but think about the beyond AWESOME time I was having last year. I had taken Krissy to New Orleans for her oh-my-goodness-why-am-I-about-to-screw-up-my-perfect-single-life-and-get-married trip and we had the best time ever.
The thing about me and vacations is that I like to feel like I am really somewhere different. New Orleans was one of the first places I went and felt like I was in a completely different place than where I boarded my airplane.
We spent most of our time in the French Quarter and had the honor of hanging out with a cousin of mine who let us in on some of the locals favorite spots. Thus, we went to Bourbon Street only on St. Patty's Day and just like we had thought, no one we befriended was from New Orleans.
New Orleans is one of those places that I will keep near and dear in my heart and if I could live in the French Quarter for just a few years, I would love it. Doesn't hurt that it is a photographer's paradise.
One of my favorite things about New Orleans, is the second we left our totally adorable hotel, we heard music. Everywhere. I loved it. You couldn't go down a street without seeing a street band or some sort of performer. This guy...I may have stalked. But he was the most gorgeous excuse for a human being that I have ever seen. And he is playing a guitar...and singing. I am a sucker for those guys.
Yeah...
We went on a couple cemetery tours, which, being a Thanatologist (my real job) Krissy had to suffer threw. She did well, but definitely did not find it as interesting as I did.
I snapped this as we were walking around after getting beignets and cafe au lait at Cafe du Monde.
And the art. It is so hard to think of how to explain the amazing artwork in New Orleans. Everything is so unique. So many colors... so many styles... it's incredibly eclectic. And there are tons of people willing to draw you.
If anyone needs a travel buddy or knows the guy in those photos... let me know! :-) Happy Friday!

Brackets
This is the wall prior to entering my kitchen. As you can see there are brackets all over it. Almost everyone has a different winner. And the ones that have the same one have already rock, paper, scissored to determine the true winner.
This is my life recently. And I am okay with that.
(BTW ... mine is the top right! UNC winning it all! Over Louisville! For no reason other than I have been watching ESPN too much lately!)

Camping
This may come as a big surprise to some people, not the peeps in the photos below, but I really like camping, or maybe I just really enjoy going on camping trips with people who have the ability to scare the living daylights out of me when it starts to get dark.
The weather this weekend made me think of perfect camping weather, and thus, it reminded me that I never gave these photos to my friends so I thought I would share them with everyone (against my better judgement because they are horrible and taken with a crap camera). Even though they are horrible, I think they really capture the essence of the trip and the creepiness of the night time there.
I think we went camping in September or October or maybe it was November at Green Ridge State Forest. It took three hours to get there but in all honesty it was worth it. Even though in order to get to the campsite itself you have to go through an hour of dirt roads which freaked me out so much because it reminded me of the start of one of those really bad horror movies. Especially when we had to get out of the car to see if we would be able to drive over this huge puddle. Puddle sounds so pathetic compared to what this was, maybe small river would be a better way to describe it.
This was also the first time I had been for real camping ie no bathrooms whatsoever. I think everyone else thought I would be miserable without running water, but to be honest it wasn't so bad at all. In fact, I think it was funny to walk through the woods to find a place to squat and avoid all the stark white toilet paper we had left everywhere.
Night time at this place was especially creepy. The entire time on the dirt road to our campsite, we saw no one. Literally, no cars, no people. At night, we could hear tons of people from other campsites even though we were the only campsite on our loop, probably at least a mile from the next one. And never did we see any train tracks on our way there, but all night we heard trains. We joked and said it was because we were drinking Coors...
Anyway, here's a few pics!
The only one I didn't take believe it or not as I am in 2 others. Photo credits for this photo go to the girl who is not helping saw the wood for our fire at all. :-)
Look at those crazy blue eyes! I still think we could be related.
The Ladies.
Can't wait until the next one!

Headlight
I got a new Canon compact camera a few weeks ago, thinking I would get to use it in Texas...ha. I wanted something that I could slip into my pocket when I didn't want to be incredibly dramatic and bring my much more professional camera. I walked into Best Buy, went to find the camera, convinced another lady to buy the same one for her daughter for her birthday and got into my car to get to lunch at Panera with my brother. Anyway, this was the very first photo I took with it, waiting for my brother to show up for lunch.

Western MD
These should looked familiar to someone...coughcoughjenncough.
I am trying to be good and post photos more often. So, this is what you get today. :-)
I love the lines and shadows in this shot.
And what would you do if you saw alpacas getting ready to spit at you on the side of the road? I hope you would get a good pic of them!

The Damage
Behold...this is what a broken foot looks like. And usually the person with the broken foot would not be smiling, but I was home safe and sound with my puppy and even Barley down in the corner there so I was a happy camper.
You may not be able to tell, but my foot is usually pretty slender; however, here, it is a swollen mess.
This photo was taken pre-huge black, steel metal, boot. Now, 2 weeks post incident, I am walking (in the boot) at a semi-normal pace and feeling a lot better. I go back for another appointment on the 19th and will hopefully be able to stop wearing this clunky thing. I can assure you that I will never ever wear platform flip flops again.
And lastly, let's play find the break!

Pondering
Not so much a ponder...
But I have just really begun thinking about how strange it is that Wendy's makes their hamburgers square.
